The anger of God is terrible news, and Amos is full of terrible news, if you are in power. If you are the judges or the religious leaders or the wealthy business owners: God sees you.
But for the people Amos is not talking to, for people whose lives are already full of terrible news, the poor, the oppressed, those who are cheated and enslaved, those who can’t get their heads above water in a system that keeps pushing them down, this is an entirely different kind of news.
God sees you
God knows your trouble
God is not okay with it
Everything is going to change
