God tells Jonah to go to Nineveh. Jonah runs away on a ship, God sends a storm, the sailors toss Jonah overboard. God sends a big fish to swallow Jonah. Jonah prays really hard and remembers God. The fish vomits Jonah.
Again, God tells Jonah, “Go to Nineveh.” Jonah proclaims, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” The Ninevites believe and repent and God repents and doesn’t destroy them.
Jonah has a temper tantrum about God’s compassion. God teaches Jonah by sending a plant to cover Jonah in the hot sun and then God kills the plant.
