Love & Compassion

The story of Jonah demonstrates that God changes God’s mind. What doesn’t change is God’s love and compassion.

Jonah avoids doing what God tells him to do. He runs away, when he’s spared he offers a lackluster proclamation to the Ninevites.

In spite of Jonah’s best efforts the Ninevites heed his message and repent. God also repents of threatening violence against them.

Sometimes we avoid God in our life. And yet despite our best effort God uses us as divine messengers of love and compassion.

  1. When was a time you ran away from what God was calling you to do?
  2. How was God used you in spite of your best efforts to avoid God’s call on your life?
